About the Centre

Our Story

The Brantford Seniors’ Resource Centre (BSRC) was established in 2008 by Chuck and Nancy Giles, with limited funding to sustain the drop-in centre for just one year. Determined to make a difference, the couple wholeheartedly dedicated themselves to helping as many individuals as possible. Fast forward to 2024, and the centre continues to thrive, with a growing client base each year. Additionally, BSRC has expanded its services to Paris, offering a Wednesday program at the Syl Apps Community Centre, in addition to its Brantford location.

Our Team

The BSRC is grateful for our team of dedicated volunteers who play a crucial role in the day-to-day operations. From answering calls to assisting clients with specific needs, our volunteers are always ready to warmly welcome you. Additionally, some our volunteers help with tax intakes and some specialize in tax preparation.

What we Offer

At the BSRC, we are committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for seniors to come together, socialize, and enjoy enriching activities. Join us for a cup of coffee, connect with fellow community members, and experience a welcoming atmosphere. During the summer, seniors are welcome to contribute to our community garden, fostering a sense of belonging and appreciation for nature. Additionally, we offer a food bank exclusively for seniors on the 3rd Thursday of every month from 1-3pm, ensuring that our community’s elders have access to essential resources. If needed, we can provide assistance with walkers and canes, subject to availability on-site. Moreover, our community tax clinic is open to individuals from all walks of life, specifically catering to those with low income. At BSRC, we strive to empower and support our senior community in every possible way.
